West Coast fishing is deep in history with Catalina Island first making news early in the century, to date most sportfishing boats/yachts are produced in the east coast which are not designed for our needs here out west. The differences are unique between the two coasts with the west using live bait, bow casting, sight fishing, differences in electronics and towers, etc. It’s not uncommon for a new boat/yacht owner to take delivery of a new boat just to cut and modify it to match our local needs, with costs up to and above several hundred thousand dollars and months of modification on the project. For over 2 decades, Captain Steve Lassley and owner Anthony Hsieh of Team Bad Company have been designing custom applications for the west coast fisheries. every project is painstaking and takes months and budgets that usually equal to another 20 to 35 percent of the boats purchase price. Some custom treatment worked and some did not. From the location of throug-hulls, transducer locations and frequency, plumbing and pump size, electronic placement and display angles, ladder ease of use, storage for tackle and gear, to teaser reels.
