Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ron's sailing career began after college in Florida in 1985. After a stint diving for Spanish gold in the Florida Keys, he found a job as a deckhand/bartender/dive instructor/steward/varnisher etc. on a charter sail boat in the Virgin Islands and began a career as a professional yachtsman.
Licensed in 1989, he got his first Captain's position aboard a 115 foot, 7,000 horsepower jet yacht based in San Juan Puerto Rico in 1990. He captained five subsequent large motor yachts in various parts of the world, culminating in a four year command of the 200 foot De Vries Feadship MEDUSE. He has cruised throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean, East Coast U.S. South Pacific and Southeast Asia and the Red Sea. He holds a U.S. 1,600/3,000 ITC ton master license.
Now based in Seattle Ron still operates and manages several yachts locally for select clients. He has been with Crow's Nest since January 2007 and will use his experience to assist clients with all their large yacht requirements.
