Crow’s Nest Yachts and Grander, Inc. welcome Randy and Maureen Cowley to the Crow’s Nest Yachts team. Randy brings his avid knowledge, experience, and passion for various facets of yachting lifestyle and business to Crow’s Nest Yachts, as Vice President of New Product Development. Joined by his wife Maureen, our Seattle office is excited to welcome them aboard.
A New York native, and now a Port Washington, Randy has been an avid yachtsman and sailor his entire life. As a world class sailboat racer, Randy competed in many of yachting's most prestigious races including: 13 Southern Ocean Racing Championships, the numerous Newport to Bermuda, Transpac and Fastnet Races, Pan Am Clipper and Kenwood Cups in Hawaii, in addition to the US Admiral's Cup and Buenos Aires to Rio Race, just to name a few.
In 1976, Randy left the east coast after accepting the position of National Sales Manager for California based SUPER SPAR, which designed and manufactured sailing systems for ocean racing yachts. In 1981, a strategic partnership with Ventura Yachts of Long Island, NY, gave birth to Venwest Yachts, a full service new and brokerage yacht sales company, for both power and sail, based in Newport Beach, CA.
Over the span of 28 years, Venwest has introduced and created name brand recognition for some of the industry's most renowned power and sail boat lines on the West Coast and Pacific Northwest, including: Tiara, Viking, Pursuit, Slickcraft, CABO, West Bay SonShip, Duffield Electric Boats, as well as Ron Holland, Henry Wauquiez, and Jeanneau Sailboats.
"In our 29 years as business owners and dealers in the marine industry, we have survived many cycles; however, in today's climate, we believe that the best way to serve our loyal customers more effectively today, and tomorrow, is to consolidate our experience, resources and customer base with that of a strong company like the Crow's Nest," said Randy Cowley. "Their 28-year longevity, strong West Coast presence, excellent broker reputation, and most importantly, the entrepreneurial and visionary leadership of Anthony Hsieh, the Crow's Nest owner, has positioned them extremely well within the industry.
Team Cowley will make the transition to the Crow's Nest together. Maureen Cowley joined Venwest Yachts in Newport Beach, CA in 1995, after a successful career in Human Resources management, as well as Organizational Development and Training, primarily within the airline and healthcare industries. She has been an integral part of Venwest's marketing team, and has built invaluable relationships with clients during new yacht purchases and builds. Maureen has also contributed to and promoted the Northwest cruising lifestyle and the boating family overall through social gatherings, rendezvous, and VIP events.
Randy and Maureen have three grown daughters–Sarah, Heather and Chelsea, a beautiful two year old granddaughter–Savannah, and another grandchild on the way in early April of 2009. They still reside on Mercer Island, and Chelsea is now a freshman at Pepperdine University.
"We are privileged to have Team Cowley join Crow's Nest Yachts," said Anthony Hsieh, CEO of Crow's Nest Yachts. "In these difficult times you must position yourself for today and tomorrow. Having Randy and Maureen on staff at Crow's Nest Yachts positions us to win today as well as the days ahead."
